At U Run we are committed to giving back to our community.
We dedicate our races to children. We are faithful to children and families, understanding that U Run families are rocked by childhood cancer, terminal illnesses, childhood bullying and birth defects every day. We work with Children’s Miracle Network, Special Olympics, Ronald McDonald House Charities and many other local charities, with a passion and drive to support our very own neighborhood leader Phoenix Children’s Hospital, here in our hometown of Phoenix AZ.
We dedicate our races to Childhood Cancer Awareness and make sure we are working to spread the word around the nation one runner, one race at a time.
Every year, thousands of children across America are diagnosed with cancer and other life threatening illnesses. Cancer remains the leading cause of death by disease for children under the age of 15. The causes of pediatric cancer are still largely unknown, and though new discoveries are resulting in new treatments, these heartbreaking diseases continue to scar U Run families and communities in ways that may never be able to fully heal. At U Run we understand that young lives are taken too soon, and we stand with the families facing childhood cancer today, and dedicate ourselves to combating this terrible illness.
Founded in April 2013, below you will find the impact of our giving, how we give, how we volunteer and how giving has always been a part of our company culture.
•October 2013 – 2016 – Phoenix Children Hospital, Trick or Treat Scavenger Hunt at the Hospital, volunteer our time and providing fun glow sticks and treats for all patients and families.
•December 2013 – Phoenix Children’s Hospital Ignite Hope Walk (www.pchignitehope.com) and in December 2014 we became an Ignite Hope Sponsor. Volunteering our time and donating many supplies and materials needed to make this walk a great success for children who have to spend the holidays in the hospital, bringing them HOPE and standing behind them as a community.
•December 2014 – 2016 – PCH Christmas Tree donation. U Run LLC donated a blacklight Glow in the dark Christmas Tree to the out patient surgery center at PCH.
•June 2014 – Supporting a child in Austin, TX who was in the final stages of kidney cancer. One of her final wishes was to attend a Blacklight Run Event. She was not healthy enough to attend, so we brought the entire production of Blacklight Run to her home. She was able to get her wish before she eventually lost her life to cancer. RIP Marissa.
Since our first race in August 2013, U Run LLC has donated more thatn $150,000 to Phoenix Children’s Hospital/Children’s Miracle Network and hundreds of thousands more to our other charity partners such as Ronald McDonald House Charities of NM, Special Olympics of TX & MA, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Boys and Girls Club and many more.
We thank everyone for all their support and believing in our passion of bringing awareness to the needs of children in our community one race at a time.
